Happy 2017 from Swimcrest. May this year bring good things for all of us, whether in the water or out.
And of course, thank you for another year of wonderful support. You make every day here a lovely one and I’m so lucky to know you all.
Despite my lack of writing here, the swimming at Swimcrest has been fantastic. Cold days and warm warm water are a perfect match.
Night swimming—it’s lovely.
This is just how I feel when I realize “Wait, I get to swim again?? And share my pool with all of these amazing athletes? Yay!!”
There may have been a shark attack…
And yes, the newest pool toy—this enormous swan—was FINALLY blown up. It took me three days to blow this baby, mostly because I thought it would be a negative for my students if I passed out on the pool deck.
This incredible woman learned to swim at 52-years-old, the FIRST WOMAN IN HER FAMILY TO EVER LEARN HOW TO SWIM!! She’s my hero of the last two months!
Oh, and this guy? Learned how to swim at 70. Because it is NEVER too late.
Today, this athlete took 17 seconds off of her timed 500 yard PR! Yee Haw!
And this kid, formerly water fearful and tense, has MASTERED her handstand!
Remember, it’s always important to stay well-fed while coaching!
Finally, you’ll be glad to see that my pal Nathan has been properly attired for the colder weather. As always, he’s been an excellent Assistant Coach on deck. Thanks Nathan!
Thank you again, and I’ll see you in the water soon.
